The BC Sunshine Coast is a beautiful place, well known for its beaches and hikes, but those who visit often find themselves struggling to find things to do. As many of my clients are visiting from off-coast, I have compiled a list of activities and events that they may find interesting during their visit.

Gibsons

  • Gibsons Public Market
    • Home to a collection of merchants, a bistro and the Tidepools Aquarium, the Gibsons Public Market is a bustling community hub that also hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
  • Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives
    • This expansive, two floor museum features numerous exhibits and collections. Learn about the history of our ferry system and The Beachcombers TV series. Explore history of the families who have settled here over the past 100+ years as well as the indigenous people who have populated this land for millennia. Find all this and more when you visit. Make sure to set aside an hour (or two), if you want to take everything in fully!
  • TidePools Aquarium
    • A small aquarium located at the Gibsons Public Market that aims to inspire and educate the public. Their exhibits and touch tanks feature over 70 species from diverse ecosystems.

Pender Harbour

  • Alpha Adventures
    • Open: Pender Harbour location is only open during the summer
    • During the summer, Rent a kayak, canoe or paddle board, book a half- or full-day tour, or take a kayaking lesson. During the winter, rent snowshoes or cross country skis, catch a shuttle up to Dakota Ridge, or book a tour or lessons and experience the magic of winter.

      Learn permaculture design principles as you explore Christian's Forest Sanctuary on the slopes of Mount Elphinstone and learn of one man's journey to transform a piece of raw forest into an oasis of pastures, terraces, ponds, islands, outdoor living areas, and an off the grid cabin.

    • A gravity-fed mountain bike park featuring "17 diverse trails catering to all skill levels, from fast, flowy paths to challenging jumps."
  • Sunshine Coast Arts Council
    • Host to events throughout the year and regularly changing art exhibits. Stop in to view their current exhibition.
  • Talaysay Tours
    • Open: 9am - 5pm (weather permitting)
    • Learn about the land on one of Talaysay's indigenous led tours. They also offer paddle rentals and tours at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park.
